 Goan food is mostly based on  seafood like fish, prawns, crabs, Squid etc. Fishes  are of different types like Kingfish, Pomfret, Tuna, Shark,and Mackerel. Goa has a coastline of approximately 105 kms. Goa's main rivers are the mandovi, the Zuari the Terekhol, Chapora and the Betul.  Goa was reclaimed from the sea.According to one theory around 25,000 years ago the sea level of Goa began to recede. The net result was the emergence of the coastline from the Arabian Sea yet another theory states that the bottom of the Arabian Sea adjacent to the Deccan was lifted out of the sea water around 10,000 B.C. due to violent moment of the earth crust and the Malabar and Konkan coasts.
